I saw my illustrator on the 4th of July and she showed me the concept drawings she has made. These are not finished drawings, just little sketches of what might be. I’m really excited. She’ll work on the drawings now, and we will meet sometime later in the summer to parse the story and see where each drawing is going to fit. If all goes well, we’ll have a finished book ready by November 1st, just in time to sell for Christmas. 

A few days before, I had been to Chautauqua Institution to hear one of my heroes, Norah O’Donnell. She and Deborah Robert’s did a stellar job talking about their new books, and how women’s history and relationships. I was honored to meet them briefly afterwards, and to give Norah a copy of Dear Donald: Letters to the White House.
